The Typhoon with the international name “MARIA” has maintained its strength as it moves Northwestward.

Location of Center (8:00 AM today): The eye of Typhoon “MARIA” was located based on all available data at 1,820 km East of Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (19.0°N, 138.9°E)
Maximum Sustained Winds: 185 km/h near the center
Gustiness: Up to 225 km/h
Movement: Moving Northwest at 15 km/h

Tomorrow Morning 09 July 2018: 1,315 km East of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) (21.3°N, 134.6°E)
Tuesday Morning 10 July 2018: 780 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.5°N, 128.8°E)
Wednesday Morning 11 July 2018: 555 km North of Extreme Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (25.4°N, 122.5°E)

• Typhoon “MARIA” may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning (Monday, 09 July). Landfall in any part of the country remains less likely.
• “MARIA” may enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which will bring monsoon rains over MIMAROPA and Panay Island until Tuesday (10 July). Occasional rains is expected over Metro Manila, the rest of Western Visayas, and western sections of CALABARZON and Central Luzon.
• Residents of the aforementioned areas, especially those living in low-lying and in mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate measures against possible flooding and landslides due to heavy rains, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
