Tropical Storm “NINA” PAGASA news

Synopsis:
At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “NINA” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,210 km East of Cagayan (18.4°N, 134.6°E) with maximum winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It is forecast to move West at 9 kph. Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 100 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (14.1°N, 125.2°E).
Forecast:
Cagayan Valley Region and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will be cloudy with frequent light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Bicol and the rest of CALABARZON and Central Luzon will have occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the North to Northwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northwest to West with slight to moderate seas.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 500 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

Tropical Storm “Nina” is still far to directly affect any part of the country.

Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) Northeast of Virac Catanduanes has dissipated.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow.
