SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 am today, Tropical Storm “MARIO” was estimated based on all available data at 212 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (16.1°N, 121.1°E). With maximum winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 22 kph.
FORECAST: The provinces of Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan group of islands, Isabela, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Abra, Ilocos Norte and Apayao will experience stormy weather with rough to very rough seas. The provinces of Aurora, Ifugao, Nueva Viscaya, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Quirino, La Union and Batanes group of islands will have rains with gusty winds with moderate to rough seas. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be cloudy with moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northwest to southwest will prevail over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindano and coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
