Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to big waves generated by Tropical Storm “Lawin”.
The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 AM tomorrow.
At 4:00 p.m. today, Tropical Storm “LAWIN” (JELAWAT) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 560 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.5°N, 130.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. It is forecast to move west southwest at 9 kph.
Samar provinces will have rains with gusty winds. The regions of Cordillera, Ilocos, Cagayan valley and Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with occasional moderate to heavy rains. Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, Bicol region, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have occasional light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas.
