Tropical Storm “GORIO” has maintained its strength and is now in the vicinity of Batangas.

At 4:00 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “GORIO” was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Batangas (14.0°N, 120.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 26 kph.
Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon and the provinces of Pangasinan, Marinduque, Mindoro and Lubang Island will have stormy weather while Bicol Region, the provinces of La Union, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Romblon, and the islands of Coron and Calamian Group will experience rains with gusty winds and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Palawan, Western and Central Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Visayas and of Mindanao will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Southern Luzon and Visayas and coming from the southeast over the rest of Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Light to moderate winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Mindanao and its coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.
