Several local government officials have declared suspension of classes in their respective areas early Friday due to intense rains brought about by Typhoon Butchoy (international name: Nepartak).
As of posting, classes have been suspended in the following areas:
Quezon City – preschool to high school (private and public)
Mandaluyong City – preschool to highschool
Valenzuela City – preschool to high school (private and public)
Bataan – all levels
Subic, Zambales – all levels (private and public)
Olongapo City – all levels (private and public)
In its 11 p.m. update on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Butchoy has slowed as it moved closer to Taiwan.
As of 10 p.m. the eye of the typhoon was spotted 160 km north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
