TROPICAL DEPRESSION “SAMUEL” HAS MAINTAINED ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES CLOSER TOWARD THE DINAGAT-SAMAR-LEYTE AREA.

• Moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flooding and landslides, are expected over Visayas, Bicol Region and the provinces of Marinduque, Romblon, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands. Residents of these areas, especially those living near or in river channels, low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
• Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the areas under TCWS #1 and the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon.
• “SAMUEL” is expected to make landfall over the Dinagat-Samar-Leyte area tonight.

Location of eye/center: At 7:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “SAMUEL” was estimated based on all available data at 350 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte (09.8 °N, 128.7 °E )
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph
Forecast Movement: Moving West Northwest at 20 kph

• 48 Hour(Thursday morning):160 km Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan(10.9°N, 117.9°E)
• 72 Hour(Friday morning): 610 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(11.3°N, 113.4°E)
• 96 Hour(Saturday morning):925 km West of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(11.1°N, 110.4°E)

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next Severe Weather Bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.
