Typhoon Urduja (Francisco) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility before dawn Thursday, even as state weather forecasters warned of risky sea travel in parts of Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 4 a.m., Typhoon Urduja was estimated at 855 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or 230 km southeast of Okinawa, Japan.
It had maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, and is forecast to move north at 9 kph.
But Pagasa said sea travel is still risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.
In its 5 a.m. advisory, Pagasa said Urduja is expected to be 890 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or at 190 km east-southeast of Okinawa Thursday afternoon.
Urduja will bring rainfall of 10 to 25 mm per hour (heavy to intense) within its 700-km diameter, it added.
Meanwhile, another cyclone outside PAR, Super Typhoon Lekima, is being monitored by Pagasa. State weather forecasters earlier said that Lekima may track a path similar to Urduja. However, it is not expected to affect any part of the Philippines as of the moment.
For Thursday, Pagasa said Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
It added Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
